Local Government Area (LGA)
The Local Government Area (LGA) map is a choropleth map that uses different shading across the local government areas to indicate the proportion of workers (within the building sample) that were observed within each LGA. It is another means of visualising the geographic distribution of workers from the subject building.
The darker the shading of the area, the higher the percentage of workers identified within that LGA.
Figure 1 indicates the spread of workers from a particular Melbourne CBD building across different Local Government Areas (LGAs)
The drop down menu in top left corner allows a user to filter the LGAs based on grouping of highest density LGAs, or to display all LGAs.
When a user hovers over a LGA polygon, the associated name and value (Estimated % workers) is displayed in the bottom left corner. For example, the LGA of Boroondara has an estimated % workers of 11.7%.
The map toggle in the top right hand corner allows the user to change the underlying map - this can be helpful, depending which area is being analysed and the zoom level.
